After obtaining an MSc in Human Nutrition from UNICAL, he also completed a PhD in Human Nutrition from The Rowett Institute, Aberdeen, Scotland. He worked as a researcher in the field of Food Science at the University of Turku, Finland, and at the Edmund Mach Foundation, Italy. He has extensive experience in the Agrifood sector. Over the last years, he managed several international R&D projects in collaboration with academic and commercial partners.
